IWAFTIAT Chapter 15: Professional

Zhou Yu made some room for his wife, “I plan to make a sled.”

Yang Xi’s eyes lit up. The first snow of the year stopped, and there would be another snow in half a month. In ancient times when everything was inconvenient, no one cleared the roads in the wild. The most convenient means of travel in the Northeast in winter was not a horse-drawn carriage, but a sled.

Seeing his wife happy, Zhou Yu felt less depressed and couldn’t help but smile, “I plan to make a big sled.”

Yang Xi moved her fingers. In this ancient life, she had strong hands-on skills and liked to take things apart when she was a child. She stopped her hobby after her father died.

Reincarnated into the modern era, her grandfather was a carpenter by tradition. She liked to do hands-on work and her grandfather spoiled her. Later, she studied mechanics in college.

Yang Xi felt very sad when she thought of her modern relatives. She had never dared to think about going back to ancient times. Now her modern relatives were all in her mind. She fainted in modern times and didn’t know if she could go back.

Zhou Yu noticed his wife’s mood and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Yang Xi couldn’t talk about modern relatives, so she could only say, “I miss my mother and little brother. I wonder how they are doing now?”

Zhou Yu suddenly remembered that he still had his xiǎojiùzi and yuèmǔ. After a while of reminiscing, he said, “No news is the best news. Should we go to your ancestral home to look for you?”

Yang Xi shook his head. “My ancestral home has been occupied by rioters. Our family is too weak.”

So it was better to protect yourself and don’t go and die.

Zhou Yu frowned as he thought about the rioters. The imperial court still had some military strength. Due to the Emperor’s incompetence and suspicion, the rioters had grown larger and larger. Now was not the most chaotic time yet, so it was good news for their family.

Zhou Xiaodi and Zhou Xiaomei put on their old cotton-padded clothes to keep warm for a while. Now they were warm, Zhou Xiaodi stood up and said, “Brother, my sister and I will go collect firewood.”

Yang Xi did not stop his brother and sister-in-law from working. Life would be even harder in the future, and they would have to be self-reliant to survive. She warned them, “The firewood that can be picked up nearby has probably been picked up, so don’t go into the mountains.”

There wasn’t much else in the ancient forests, but there were mostly wild beasts, especially wolves, that would enter the village when they were extremely hungry.

Brother Zhou said, “Sister-in-law, I will be careful.”

Zhou Ziheng couldn’t help but stretch out his hand, “Dad, Mom, what can I do to help?”

Yang Xi smiled, “Ziheng, can you recite a poem for me?”

Zhou Ziheng looked at his father, and Zhou Yu said softly, “Listen to your mother.”

Although Ziheng was young, as the eldest grandson he was enlightened at a very early age. He knew quite a few words and could recite many ancient poems.

Ye Shi lay motionless on the bed. She needed to take good care of herself because she had lost all her energy. Her children all had responsibilities, and her face showed some more life.

Yang Xi didn’t dare to make the sled herself. As a rich lady from ancient times, she didn’t know how to do these things. She could only help out, which was very frustrating. She could make the best sled, and she wanted to open her mouth several times but held back.

Finally, she went out for a walk to clear my eyes. The area where the Wu family lived was full of families with large populations. There were many strong laborers in this area and it was located on the outskirts of the mountain, so it was relatively well organized. The other area was dirty and messy.

Yang Xi dared to go out for a walk only after she knew the situation clearly. She also changed her hairstyle when she went out, letting her hair down to cover half of her face, and walked with her body hunched over on purpose. Although it was eye-catching, no one stared at her closely.

This was also thanks to Wu Shan. Wu Shan was a man of strategy. He had already told his neighbors that his relatives were coming to escape the disaster. The neighbors were not very curious because they were all poor people fleeing, so who would care about irrelevant people?
